| ABOUT US |
 |
The story of Asia Desk goes back to the 1970’s
when G.W. “Sandy” Ferguson, managing director of Asia
Desk, first got involved in the travel industry. After spending most of his
youth in Asia, graduating from high school in Bangkok, Thailand,
and finishing college,
and a enjoying a stint with an air carrier in the region, Sandy began working for a company specializing in travel to the newly-opened People's Republic of China. |
As a tour escort, he began exploring the hitherto forbidden country in 1976, long before the reforms that have recently shaped modern China. |
In the late '70's Sandy returned to Thailand to live, work, and start a family. It was here he opened his own destination services company that grew to include offices in Thailand as well as Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
When Vietnam opened its doors to tourist in 1987, Sandy was one of
the first to begin operating there. It was also in Vietnam that he
met his wife, Tran Phi Nga, founder of one of the first private tour operators in Vietnam.
In 1994, Nga and Sandy came to America to provide receptive services during the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta . Later, after Sandy spent a few years with American Express as an Asia-Pacific travel specialist, Asia Desk Ltd came into being. |
 |
From its inception, the goal of Asia Desk has been to provide professional, destination specific travel services through a private network of family and friends throughout Asia and the Pacific. |
 |
The companies and people Sandy and his wife left behind provide personalized care for each guest. Each one of the local hosts employed by Asia Desk has been hand-picked for their personal knowledge, English-language skills, and the clear understanding of what Sandy and Nga expect from each of them.
Asia Desk is a family-owned and family-operated enterprise
where personal attention is the norm, not the exception. |
